Hi, I am a WP7 entusiast. This is the perfect exemple of android's customization capacity.
It is possible to have a 4x2 tile to accomodate bigger widgets?
Are you guys working on a hub contacts to resume the activities of my friends?
Could you find a way to enhance the size numbers on Calculator?
The WP7lock still remain unlocking with volume buttons on my X10.

Allow me to try to address all of your concerns:

    - A 4x2 tile is not yet possible but feel free to drop Timo Kujala an email with your feature request and I'll be sure to point him to this URL. I'm actually not sure 4x2 makes sense since Launcher7 is only 2 rows wide but perhaps 2x2 or 2x4 vertical might make sense and fit? Also, have you seen the latest update's new feature "Widget view access?"
    - A Contacts Hub application is not in the works, we are looking for another developer to join us and complete this application but right now all of our developers including myself are too busy with our other apps, work, and/ or school.
    - What do you mean by "enhance?" They use the Segoe font. Perhaps their size is too small/ large on your device?
    - WP7Lock and volume buttons is a tricky issue. Some devices this is not a problem, others like some Sony Xperia lines and the Samsung Galaxy S2 just don't work and there is no way around this. For security reasons they forbid applications from globally preventing certain buttons (i.e. the volume rocker) from being pressed. There just isn't much that we can do.

    Thanks Tom for yours response..

My english is not so good as I would like...

You are right, I was thinking about a 2x2 tile (not 4x2). By the way I didn't understand how "Widget view access" works. Maybe in the next portuguese translation I will understand...

In calculator I was trying to say large numbers...

    Thanks again,
    Armando

Even I am eagerly waiting for contacts hub to appear on my Android phone soon :)

Btw are there any plans for games tile as well ? (xbox games tile -and corresponding flow - even it looks amazing)

One thing is for sure. Many people on Android just started thinking about WP phone . This project will be very useful for all of us . Good work . Keep it up guys

Just a quick ergonomic suggestion. My tile columns are a bit long. It's somewhat annoying, especially when trying to stop on a tile halfway down the 'list', so to speak.

I thought maybe you could add page up/page down arrows that would scroll the tiles by one screen full of tiles at a time, say between the top arrow that goes to the apps, and where the widget screen button appears at the bottom right of the screen.

I think people might find that a much more accurate/faster way of getting to a desired tile.

Anyways, thanks for the great app and all your work. :-)

Thanks revcb for the suggestions, we'll definitely look into that although if and when this were added it should definitely be an "option" that is disabled by default because to many users without long tile lists this would be more annoying and aesthetically displeasing.

As for rajeshksv an XBox tile is not in the making at the moment. It is a possibility but I'm not sure Android would provide the facilities to make a half-decent tile. Up until Android 4.0.4 ICS (API 15) there wasn't a way to detect which apps are apps and which are games, and even then its already a very messy. No promises there.

    Thanks tombar.

But If thats the only concern(no way to detect which is app and which is game), may be you can ask users to add games manually and you just providing the basic layout and containers. Just a thought :)

I want to give some good tips for wp7 lock pro. The app is great specially zine integration. But it needs some bugs fixed like when calls connect it need to unlock to see who calling. Also it automatically lock the screen when you are talking in phone. Sometimes message counter does not work. Also integration with other players will be a great deal. Thanks tom, I know you will put some eyes on my post.

Great to be in seven android

I'll forward these suggestions over to Sami, the developer of WP7Lock. Most of those are in the works, but just understand he is working hard with finals and exams right now in high school and is under a bit of stress. As for third-party player integration, perhaps through the Phantom Music Control API but otherwise this won't likely happen. That is an app in-and-of-itself and there are too many music players to support them all.

Hi tom I first want to tell thanks for your support.
I will try to give one app.request sevenforum have every app to make Android wp 7 ,but there is one simple app need to build that is wp 7 like task switcher, already there is mod for nexus but that is only for ics . Seven forum have all the apps to make Android windows phone 7 except this, if you try to make this app for all the Android devices then definitely Android becoming seven.

I'm not a developer so I can't help you for developing but as you guys making a good concept I just trying to helping you with some ideas. Thank you.

Thanks again for the suggestions! Unfortunately we do not develop apps only for users with custom ROMs/ root, and there is no easy way to obtain the necessary screenshots to create a WP7-style task switcher. If and when we can figure out how to do this without root we would absolutely give it a shot but until then we are quite busy and content with our current portfolio and list of other apps to get to.

Hi. Been using L7 for a long time. I'm running ICS on my HTC One X and while the launcher works great, there is that annoying ICS three dot menu bar. This phone only has three soft keys, no menu. Can the app be updated to remove the onscreen menu bar? I can root to disable but haven't yet. Just curious. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the heads up! We have actually been working on this, but one of the issues with removing the three menu dots is that to do so you have to change the app's target API level to 14 or 15 (ICS). Without getting too technical that has numerous other implications including a number of issues relating to hardware acceleration that breaks other parts of the app. As soon as we can fix that issue and come up with a workaround for the standard menus we will be glad to update Launcher7.

    hey,
i noticed in Zplayer you have a volume styled like real wp7 and its working really god disabling the stock volume bar  is it possible to copy this feature to the launcher7 or better to the statusbar+ so it replaces the stock volume bar every where on the phone ,, or in case of launcher7 the home screen witch is gonna look cool

also launcher's index letters is pretty sweet feature but i noticed on the wp7 the letters stuck on the top of the screen replacing each other while scrolling down just like letters in android's contacts app also the index letters could be colored with the accent chosen .

this project is pretty cool cant wait for the new updates :) best wishes ;)

Thanks for the suggestions! Sticky headers are certainly a possibility although we'll need to do some solid testing before that will go public.

As for WP7-style volume and music controls, the volume panel is only customizable in an app. So yes Launcher7 can have this but no, StatusBar+ could absolutely NOT have this. If it could StatusBar+ would be a keylogger capable of detecting all of your key presses. We'd love to do it, but we simply can't.

here is something i tried to work around i dunno if its possible yet tho
i know try to keep your apps for none rooted devices but that's kinda limiting it especially you are trying to mod an OS to be another OS :)

what i tried was using the root option in Statusbar+ to remove the stock statusbar and then disabled statusbar+
    so now i have a full screen launcher7 .
i used the launcher7 statusbar and set it to transparent , well it still uses the background wallpaper, it doesnt go for the whole transparency experience .
ofc i went through all this to get home screen transparent statusbar such as the built-in clock in Zplayer and wp7 mango :)

You may want to see this post on Google+. We have actually created a full-featured public API so that other apps can integrate with StatusBar+. It is still pretty early, but hopefully all of our apps will get on board. They should automatically detect if StatusBar+ is running and if so they can add a top padding and make StatusBar+ have an invisible background. Both ZPlayer and StatusBar+ will be receiving updates in the near future so you can test it for yourself that way.

if there is no way then don't bother i can live with it :) will just move the calender tile few tiles up ;)

Obtaining the date isn't so much the issue as where would it be displayed? There is already a very limited about of space in the status bar, where would the date go? It cannot be displayed when the notification panel is revealed because there is no way to know when the notification panel has been hidden. In this way it cannot behave like the stock status bar. We've had this suggestion for some time and will likely add it as an option in the future, but not for the upcoming update.

hmmm in the notification panel you can show it in the statusbar+ notification on the right instead of the "since when the app ran" or maybe add a line to it,.... i cant think of any other place for displaying  you are right its crowded there xD i wonder how the wp7 guys deal with it xD
